Tour Overview

The Everest Base Camp trek is a highly acclaimed popular trek to the base camp of the highest mountain in the World. Among the two routes to the base camp, the easier southeast route and the comparatively harder northeast route, the trek across Tibet is the latter one. The Everest Base Camp trek in Tibet, also known as the Advanced Base Camp trek, not only offers a chance to reach the base camp but also gives an exquisite chance to experience the unique Tibetan culture. With hypnotic views of the Tibetan mountain ranges and the passage through areas adorned with prayer flags and slate made houses, this trek requires a special permit from  the Chinese government.

This trek commences from the beautiful village of Lhasa. Lhasa is a haven for Buddhist pilgrims due to the abundance of monasteries, gompas, stupas, palaces and museums. The trial then follows treks through Shigatse, Sakya and Rongbuk which is accompanied by the passage through passes, monasteries and fortresses along with uninterrupted views of the Mt. Everest all along. The northern face of the Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5250 m is reached via Rongbuk and an overnight camping amidst exquisite scenery of the Mount Everest soaring above can be embedded into ones memory. The impressive Rongbuk glacier is also trekked along before reaching the Japanese Base Camp at a height of 5650 m. This Base Camp, situated beneath a huge yellow rock, offers views of the Pumori mountain right before the trekker’s eyes. The Interim Base camp at a height of 5800 m is reached accompanied by views of the Pumori, Nuptse and the Rongbuk Glacier.

The Advanced Base Camp which lies near the Changste Glacier, at an altitude of 6340 m is reached by passing through moraine rubbles and exquisite Himalayan scenery. For a non climber, this is the closest one can get to the Everest and the Lhakpa Ri. Suitable for those with a good physique and a hunger for adventure, carrying out this trek during the spring of autumn is highly recommended.
