The 20 days of Everest Base Camp Trek Via Gokyo Lakes start with the beautiful places of Kathmandu valley such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu durbar square, and so on. Day after touring Kathmandu, We will take an adventurous flight in small craft to Lukla. Lukla is our journey beginning of the venture. We will trek from Phakding and reach the gateway of Everest, Namche Bazar. Then we will continue through the beautiful villages Dingboche and Lobuche. After the hours of trekking, we will reach the Everest Base Camp. After visiting Everest Base Camp we will head to the popular viewpoint called Kalapatter and continue the trek to Lobuche towards Dzongla.
Similarly, we will move towards Chola pass from Dzongla, and trek to Thangna (Dragna). After reaching Gokyo we will hike the Gokyo River early in the morning for the view and continue the trek to the Machhermo. By continuing the journey we will Trek through Machermo and Phakding from where we will reach the starting point of our trek, Lukla. And at last, we will fly back to Kathmandu and end our Everest Base Camp Trek Via Gokyo Lakes.

Please make sure to arrive at Kathmandu International Airport as early as you can today. Rest assured, we’ve got your airport transfer covered, and we’ve already arranged accommodation for you at a hotel for tonight. During the trek, all accommodations will be shared.

We will have an eventful day on the very next day of your arrival. We will visit the world heritage site on this day. We will begin our journey by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square followed by our visit to Swayambhunath. Then we travel to the renowned Boudhhanath temple. Then our final destination for the day is Pashupatinath Temple.
If you have more time at hand, then you can roam around the city buying souvenirs for your return. Then we will have a pre-departure meeting during the evening. Then, after devouring a delicious dinner, you will spend the night here at the same hotel.
Start your journey with an early flight to Lukla, where you will meet your fellow adventurers. Together, you’ll carefully arrange your belongings before beginning the trek. The path from Lukla will take you to the charming village of Phakding, where the warm and welcoming Sherpa community resides. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to cross a peaceful suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, surrounded by nature’s beauty.
Upon reaching Phakding, take some time to relax by the riverside, appreciating the awe-inspiring views and creating lasting memories with your camera. Enjoy a peaceful night’s rest in Phakding, feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting adventures that lie ahead.
Today, you’ll see the grandeur of Mount Everest for the first time. The trail to Namche is a delightful path through lush forests, adorned with prayer flags and sacred Buddhist shrines, offering stunning views of the Himalayas.
Along the way, you’ll cross impressive metal suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Bridge, the highest in the Everest Region. Though the walk to Namche may tire you, the breathtaking sight of snow-capped peaks will uplift your spirits and make fatigue fade away.
Rest well in Namche tonight, savoring the memories of this unforgettable day and anticipating the adventures that lie ahead.
Leaving Namche, you’ll follow a pleasant path to Kymjuma. There, the trail splits: one leads to Gokyo, and the other to Tengboche. You’ll take the upward trail to the Gokyo Valley, ascending on stone steps carved into rocky cliffs.
Along the way, savor breathtaking views of Taboche, Kantega, and Ama Dablam. Pass through the charming Sherpa villages of Mong La and Phortse Tenga, and relish the beauty of waterfalls, streams, and forests. Once you arrive in Dole, find comfort in a teahouse to rest your tired legs. Overnight in Dole, ready for more memorable experiences on your incredible journey.
On Day 6, you’ll have an amazing trek from Namche Bazaar to Mongla, experiencing the true beauty of the Khumbu region. You’ll pass through lovely rhododendron and pine forests, catching the sweet scent of wildflowers. The views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest are simply breathtaking. The trail offers a mix of uphill and downhill sections, allowing you to soak in the peaceful surroundings. You’ll also encounter friendly Sherpa villages adorned with colorful prayer flags, reflecting the local spirituality. Mongla welcomes you with a serene atmosphere and warm hospitality, a perfect spot to relax and prepare for more adventures ahead.
The trek from Mong La to Dole is a pleasant and manageable journey. The path is not too challenging, making it a relatively easy day. Along the way, you’ll encounter several beautiful frozen waterfalls, which will gracefully thaw as the sun rises, creating a captivating and heartwarming sight.
On your 8th day, you’ll enjoy a gentle 1.5-hour hike from Dole to the quaint village of Machermo. Although the day may be sunny, keep in mind that Machermo can get chilly.
As you traverse this region, you’ll encounter a unique and mesmerizing landscape, characterized by its arid and barren surroundings. But fear not, as the stunning views that encompass you will make this journey truly unforgettable.
The climb to the first Gokyo Lake can be tough because of the steep terrain and the occasional need to take breaks due to the altitude. But the moment you catch sight of the lake, you’ll know it was all worth it. The lake’s beautiful bluish color, nestled among granite peaks covered in snow, is simply breathtaking.
You’ll also be delighted to spot migratory birds taking a break at the lakes, while Brahminy ducks and playful marmots call the lake their home.
Today, we’ll trek to Thangnak and start early to hike up to Gokyo Ri. The round trip will take around 4 hours and reward us with stunning views of Ngozumba glacier and the majestic Everest, Lhotse, Cholache, Pharilapche, Cho-Oyu, and more. The sunlight touching the mountains is truly breathtaking and will create lasting memories. After enjoying this picturesque spot, we’ll descend to continue our trek to Thangnak. The trail passes through zig-zag moraines, with some uphill and downhill sections. After about 2.5 hours, we’ll reach Thangnak for an overnight stay, including meals.
One of the trip’s highlights is the Cho-La Pass, starting early in the morning. The pass is slightly steep and has a rocky, slippery trail, so caution is necessary. Reaching the top, you’ll find prayer flags and small lakes. Be careful while walking near the lakes. From the pass, you can witness stunning views of Ama Dablam, Cholastse, Lobuche peak, and Baruntse. Trekking through some crevasses will lead you to Zongla, where you’ll enjoy a complete view of Mt. Ama Dablam, Lobuche, Mt. Cholatse, and Pheriche village. Overnight at the lodge in Zongla, including meals.
Today’s trek is shorter, allowing us ample time to rest and explore the local sights. We’ll descend from Zongla, crossing a bridge and walking along a grassy trail. Eventually, we’ll reach Lobuche, where we can either take a well-deserved rest or soak in the beauty of the natural surroundings. Enjoy an overnight stay at Lobuche, including meals.
The trail to Gorak Shep is a relatively easy 1-hour walk on loose stones, passing through the Khumbu glacier. After about 1.5 hours, we’ll reach Gorak Shep, where we’ll have lunch and enjoy the breathtaking views of Everest, Mahalangur, Lingtern, Lhotse, and Pumori. From there, we’ll continue our trek to Everest Base Camp, passing the Gorak Shep Lake and Indian Army Mountaineers’ Memorial.
At Everest Base Camp, we’ll admire the courageous climbers tackling the challenging Khumbu icefall. The colorful tents of mountaineers create a striking contrast against the mountains’ gray backdrop. The ultimate goal of our trip is to have clear views of Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori. Overnight at Gorak Shep includes meals.
We’ll wake up early to witness the magnificent view of the first daylight striking Mt. Everest. The temperature may drop from (-10 C to -14 C) with chilly winds, which is common in this region. During the ascent, we can take breaks at various spots to enjoy beautiful views.
After several hours, we’ll reach Kala Patthar, a rocky hill adorned with colorful prayer flags. From the top, we’ll be treated to a panoramic view of the majestic mountain ranges. Once we’ve taken in the beauty, we’ll return to Gorak Shep for breakfast before continuing our trek to Pheriche. Overnight at Pheriche includes meals.
Today, we’ll descend to reach Tengboche, making the walk much easier due to the lower altitude and descending path. We’ll follow the same route we took during the ascent, passing through Sherpa villages and the Khumbu Khola valley. We can choose to take a different trail to Upper Pangboche or the regular one to Pangboche. From there, we’ll trek down to Imja Khola and continue to reach Debuche. If we’re lucky to be there during the full moon of November-December, we might witness the local festival, Mani Rimdu, at the Tengboche monastery. Overnight at Tengboche includes meals.
Bid farewell to the enchanting Tengboche village. Begin your early trek after breakfast, considering the unpredictable Tengboche weather. Descend to the Imjatse River and then climb steeply for about an hour to reach Sanasa. From there, follow the winding path to Namche Bazaar, where you can enjoy a delightful lunch at one of the fine restaurants.
While trekking, be sure to relish the stunning views of the village and Mount Everest in the backdrop. The rugged trail will lead you through lush green forests, offering a chance to spot various wildlife like musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, and, if lucky, even the rare red panda. Keep an eye out for the mesmerizing Blood Pheasant and Impeyan Pheasant. You’ll then descend steeply to the Dudh Koshi River and cross it via a suspension bridge to Jorsale, the buffer zone of Sagarmatha National Park. Finally, head south towards the charming village of Monjo, known for being the entrance gate of the national park. Embrace the tranquility of this small village with its charming stone houses and wooden windows.

On Day 17, you’ll start your journey back from Lukla to Monjo. The path will take you through the same breathtaking landscapes and friendly Sherpa villages you’ve come to know and love during your trek. Take your time to soak in the beauty of the surroundings and cherish the wonderful experiences you’ve had so far. As you arrive in Monjo, the peaceful ambiance of the Sagarmatha National Park will embrace you with a warm welcome. You’ll find comfort in the inviting teahouses, and as you rest for the night, fondly recall the unforgettable moments of your remarkable Himalayan adventure.
Say farewell to the majestic mountains and journey back to Kathmandu, where the flight offers awe-inspiring views of the Himalayan peaks. Upon arrival, you’ll be chauffeured to your hotel, where you can relax or venture out to explore the city.
