Lukla is a small village in Khumbu of Solukhumbu district at an altitude of 2860m. It is the doorway to all the treks in the Everest region. Additionally, it’s an excellent place to begin exploring this part of Nepal. 

There is a small airport in Lukla known as Lukla Airport. It is additionally referred to as Tenzing Hilary Airport. For travelers, Lukla offers almost everything you need: great views, friendly locals, delicious food, lodging options in abundance, and even a few places with wifi!


Phakding is a small village located in the Solukhumbu district’s Khumbu area at a height of 2619 meters. The village is inhabited by Sherpas and serves as the base for many treks in the Everest region.

Due to its location, it has become a popular tourist destination for trekkers of the Everest region. So if you’re looking to get your feet wet with some adventure, this is where you want to be! 

The town is accessed via a trek from Lukla, which takes about three hours to complete. But it can be completed much quicker if you are well-prepared and physically capable. It is located south of Monjo and north of Lukla. So, you can make day trips from either of these towns if you’d like.

Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar is the top tourist destination in the Khumbu region. It is located at a height of 3440 meters and has been a trading center for many years. The people of Sherpas dominate this place, making it lively and friendly.

The main street here has shops selling local goods like woolen clothes, woolen blankets, and jewelry made by local craftsmen using traditional techniques passed down through generations since ancient times. In addition to these shops, many other businesses are operating, including restaurants selling food made with pure ingredients.


Tengboche is the most famous monastery in the Everest region. It is located at 3,867 meters above sea level and at the foot of Mt. Ama Dablam. The monastery was established in 1916 by Lama Gulu. 

Tengboche is a living example of Tibetan architecture, with its stunning art depicting religious scenes from Tibetan Buddhism’s history and culture.

Travelers and pilgrims are blessed at Tengboche monastery during their visits here. They can perform prayer ceremonies or participate in religious rites there. Pilgrims from all over the world (including Tibet) visit this sacred place.

The journey from Namche Bazaar brings you to Tengboche Bazaar, where travelers can purchase some souvenirs before moving onward. In the Tengboche monastery, the Mani Rimdu festival is held every October.

Everest View Hotel

Gokyo Lakes

If you’re looking to explore one of the most beautiful places in the world, look no further than the Gokyo Lakes.

Located in the Khumbu region’s Gokyo Valley, the Gokyo Lakes comprise six primary lakes stretching throughout multiple areas. The lakes are dispersed throughout several areas: Thonak Cho Lake, EBC trek through Gokyo Lakes, and Ngozumpa glacier are all accessible once you’ve reached their furthest reaches.

The series of six primary lakes that make up these lakes is the highest freshwater lake system in the world.

From Kalapatthar, you can see mountain vistas of Nuptse, Pumori, Lhotse, and Mt. Everest all in one shot!
